The Aryan/Dravidian divide

The Aryan Invasion of India is a concept that has its root in the thinking of the Western Intellectuals. What one feels about this idea is that when the westerners came to India they
were astonished by the advancement of the language, literature, etc., of these people especially the Spiritual Advancement.
Instead of becoming jealous of this advancement (like the barbarians), those Intellectuals
wanted to share that tradition. They propagated a theory of migration of a nomadic group to Central Asia and from there a part of the group came down the Khyber Pass and settled in India.
The other group went to Mediterranean area. and the theory of Indo European languages etc.
were put forward by them. Since the Westerners were ruling a major part of the world all the subsequent researches were either complementary or supplementary to that theory.Later
researches in this line have shown that this theory is not true. In spite of all this the local people
in India are still hanging around this age old Aryan/Dravidian myth. You can find more here
